On the meeting with the Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister of Malaysia

On October 9, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov and a Malaysian delegation led by Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues of Turkmen-Malaysian relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The sides discussed further intensification of long-standing partnership based on principles of mutual respect and consideration of interests.
Participants of the meeting exchanged views on the development of bilateral trade and economic relations, the area of investment in which was identified as a priority. In this context, the parties noted the successful holding of the International Forum on Attracting Foreign Investment in the Economy of Turkmenistan in Kuala Lumpur. Particular attention was paid to the oil and gas industry, including Turkmenistan’s long-standing cooperation with the Malaysian company “Petronas”.
During the conversation, the sides discussed issues of enhancing cultural and humanitarian ties, particularly in the areas of education and tourism.
