Meeting on the level of deputy heads of foreign policy agencies of Turkmenistan and the UAE

On the 14th of October 2020, a meeting through videoconferencing was held in the MFA of Turkmenistan between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan B.Matiyev and the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Abdulnasser Jamal Al Shaali.

After exchanging warm greetings, the parties noted the high level of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the UAE. The interest of two countries in expanding the legal base of cooperation, including the enhancement of consular services was expressed. 

The diplomats considered the collaboration in political-diplomatic area and emphasized the closeness of standpoints in the context of international and regional agendas. The parties discussed the constructive cooperation in the framework of international organizations, primarily the UN, and spoke for the continuation of partnership on the implementation of peace-loving initiatives.     

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the cooperation on the counteraction against the contemporary threats and challenges, in particular the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, the parties expressed interest in sustaining the contacts between the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries.     

One of the main topics of discussion was the consideration of issues related to the preparations to the third session of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates, including the agenda of the meeting. The diplomats expressed hope that the given session will further promote deepening of bilateral relations, in particular in the area of trade, investments, oil and gas sector, energy, construction, agriculture, ecological security and food safety, education, science and culture.
