Turkmen-Chinese inter-MFA consultations were held in Ashgabat
On January 15, 2025, the political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen side was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov and the Chinese side was represented by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Liu Bin.
During the consultations, the sides exchanged views on all key areas of the bilateral agenda, including political-diplomatic dialog, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian partnership, enhanced with practical content. In this regard, it was emphasized that regular contacts at the highest, governmental and interdepartmental levels give impetus to comprehensive strategic relations.
In continuation of the talks, the participation of the Chinese side in the planned high-level events within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust was touched upon.
Speaking about bilateral inter-parliamentary and inter-party ties, the sides emphasized the importance of the activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups and participation in joint events.
In the context of interaction between the foreign ministries, the diplomats discussed the practical implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China for 2025-2026, signed in November last year in Chengdu.
The sides agreed that the activities of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee are an important mechanism of the Turkmen-Chinese dialog, which is sustainable and long-term in nature.
Special attention at the meeting was paid to the expansion of trade and economic ties. As it was emphasized, China remains as the large foreign economic partner of Turkmenistan for many years.
According to both sides, the spheres of science, education, culture, arts and sports have become an effective tool for bring closer together the friendly Turkmen and Chinese peoples.
At the end of the inter-MFA consultations, the sides expressed their readiness to intensify fruitful dialog in promising areas of bilateral interaction of mutual interest.

On the same day, the 10th meeting of the Subcommittee on Security Cooperation of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee was held.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan A.Gurbanov and Assistant Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China Liu Bin.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan and China.
The participants analyzed the results of work on the implementation of previously reached agreements and exchanged views on joint activities for the near future in priority areas of cooperation.
They confirmed intention to expand and deepen cooperation in the field of security.
Following the meeting, the Protocol of the 10th meeting of the Subcommittee on Security Cooperation of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee were signed.
