On July 25, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Turkmenistan Ji Shumin, who presented his credentials to the head of state.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet, the diplomat noted that his country attaches great importance to the development of strategic cooperation with Turkmenistan and, taking the opportunity, conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to the head of state and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag.

Having warmly welcomed the Ambassador, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated him on his appointment to the high diplomatic post and expressed confidence that during his work at this responsible post, Ji Shumin will make a valuable contribution to further successful development and strengthening of comprehensive relations between the two countries.

Having conveyed his best wishes in return to the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized that the People’s Republic of China is one of the most important strategic partners for Turkmenistan.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction that in recent years, the partnership between Turkmenistan and China has reached a qualitatively new level.

At the meeting it was noted that the priority area of interstate relations is the economic sphere. The large Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline is a vivid example of an effective, mutually beneficial partnership in the fuel and energy complex, defined as a key vector of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Turkmenistan also advocates further coordination of its strategy of “Revival of the Great Silk Road” and China’s related initiative “One Belt, One Road”.

According to the general opinion, the cultural and humanitarian sphere is an integral part of the interstate Turkmen-Chinese dialogue, with special attention paid to deepening ties in the fields of science and education, healthcare and culture.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Turkmenistan Ji Shumin once again expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the warm welcome and assured that he would make every effort to further deepen and expand the traditionally friendly interstate relations.
